Photoshop edit 1

In my media lesson today I have edited my first photo which will be my main photo for the front cover. For this I used the photo editing program called Photoshop. Here is the original image:

The first thing I did to this image was removed the background with the magic wand tool and then used the crop tool to get rid of unnecessary background. This is how the image then looked:

Then I decided that I wanted to add a bit to pink to her lips to add a bit of emphasis to them. Also the enhanced pink in the models lips links in well to the pink I plan on having in my masthead. For this I duplicated the layer and used the hue and saturation tool to get a more pink colour on the whole of the duplicated layer. Like so:

I then used a masking technique and a brush tool to remove the pinkness from the rest of the image so that it only applies to the lips. This took a while as I had to be very precise with the brush tool so that I didn't get rid of the pinkness on the lips. This was what the image looked like after I had done this:
I then decided to make the teeth very slightly whiter as the lighting in the room didn't pick up the whiteness in the models teeth. For this I did the same thing as I did to enhance the pinkness of the lips. Here is the end result of that:
This was the last thing I decided to do to this image as I feel it is already good enough for my front cover. This was the end result:
After close consideration of this image, I decided that I hadn't fully deleted the background from the picture. Therefore I will edit out the rest of the background. This will be shown on a different post.
